Nature photoshoot

rezsonya_michelle_nature1.jpg

The theme of this photoshoot was nature and we had a scavenger hunt to go along with it. This is a picture of my puppy Milo that I took of him out in the backyard. I was trying to get pictures of the flowers that we have in the backyard but I ended up taking more pictures of Milo. I used the rules of not centering and getting close to get a focused picture of him. I changed my camera settings so that the picture had a blurry background and focused on Milo. I like taking portrait pictures so when taking nature photos I tried to think of ways to make them interesting to look at like a portrait, so taking a picture of my dog was the best of both worlds. Overall this assignment was fun and I liked the scavenger hunt aspect, but because there wasnt much room for portraits it wasnt my favorite photoshoot that we have done this year.

Portrait photoshoot

This is a picture of my friends Audrey, Grace and Abby that we took on a dock in morse lake. The idea of this photoshoot was to take portraits that were more interesting than just a simple picture of someone. This picture I tried to make it more interesting than just a portrait of their faces, I made sure that you could see their whole body. I didn’t tell them a specific way to sit so that it was a more candid picture. I made sure not to center and tried to have as few distractions as I could. I love taking picture of the beach and water so going to take portraits on the lake is how I added my voice. Overall I liked this photoshoot the best out of any other photoshoot because I love to take candid portraits.

Panorama

rezsonya_digitalpanorama

The theme of this photoshoot was to create a panorama of a location with meaning to me. I took this picture of a beach in Florida that I took over spring break. I lived in Florida when I was younger before we moved to Indiana when I was 4. Though this wasn’t the exact same because I grew up going to it is right off my grandpas house.  This photoshoot was fun because I got to take pictures anywhere and be creative with it. I tried to avoid destractions but since it is a public beach it was harder to avoid. I also centered the bridge so that the photo didn’t look off balance. I like to take portraits so having something to focus on in the picture like the bridge made it easier for me to plan the picture. Overall I really liked this photoshoot because it was fun to try a different type of photography.

Gif Photoshoot

michellerezsonya

In total I took 85 pictures and looped the video to contain 288 photos. This photoshoot was harder because I needed to find something that I could connect back to in the beginning so I decided to make a candle. The flames on the candle burn out then the lighter comes into the frame and lights the wick again. To set this up I made a candle base and put it inside of the candle. Then I made flames, candle smoke and a lighter out of paper. I made sure that there were no distractions in the background and that there were different angles of the candle to show depth. I made sure to take individual pictures instead of taking a burst of pictures. Overall this project was fun because of how creative we got to be. Since I have never taken pictures to put into a gif, it was fun getting to learn how to make it. My strengths for this project were taking the pictures and making the props and my weakness was messing with the lighting and not shaking the camera.

Noun Photoshoot

Rezsonya_Collage.jpg

For my noun photoshoot I decided to use the word motion and since I like taking portraits, I took pictures of people in motion. The first picture is of my friend laughing. While it is a candid portrait, it uses stop motion to capture her hair movement and her laugh. The second picture is my brother hitting a ball at Top Golf. I used stop motion again to show that he had just swung to show motion. The third picture is my cousin blowing glitter at the camera. I used stop motion to capture the flakes of glitter and to show the motion of the glitter. Both the top and bottom pictures were taken on photoshoots and the middle picture was taken just playing at Top Golf. The pictures are all centered so I didn’t use the rule of thirds, but the pictures are close enough that you can see what they are doing and I had minimal distractions in the background. The colors in the photos are not bright and bold but they help the eye go straight to the subject matter and what they are doing. Finding a way to incorporate portraits into my motion photos is how I made my pictures specific to me. My strengths for this photoshoot was finding subject matter to take pictures of. My weakness for this photoshoot were centering most of my pictures. Overall this photoshoot was really fun because I got to incorporate more of my voice into my photos and I got to choose what I would be taking pictures of.

Brandon Woelfel Parody Photoshoot

This picture was taken of my friend Seren after it had just snowed. We found an ally downtown that had some cute lights so we decided to take pictures with some fairy lights to mimic Brandon’s style. Brandon’s style uses lights and reflections to create cool effects on his photos. He also tends to take candid pictures with his friends at night to fully use the lights. To recreate some of Brandon’s style while editing, I used more red and blue tones to create a more whimsical effect on the photo. I used the rule of thirds and had no distraction in the background. The use of the fairy lights and made sure to take candid pictures to recreate his style.  I made sure to shoot in manual mode so that I could get the effect that I wanted on the picture. Brandon also like to add more bokeh in the background of his pictures so I experimented with the edits on this picture. Overall I really liked this assignment because of the voice that we were able to incorporate in our pictures. I had been looking at Brandon’s pictures on Instagram and bought some of the items that he uses in his photos before I even knew about this photoshoot so it worked in my favor. I had wanted to start taking some candid photos of my friends and researching how Brandon takes his pictures and how he edits them has really helped me.

Juxtaposition Photoshoot

Forced Juxtaposition edit

This picture is to show the differences between new technology and old technology. I used a bunch of polaroid pictures and compared it to my instagram. I used the rule of thirds and get close to make the picture easier to understand. I took the picture with the creative auto setting on my camera. I decided to take this picture to show how much technology has changed in the past couple years. Printed pictures were taken over by the use of the camera on the cell phone and now people use social media to share their photos with the rest of the world. Doing this juxtaposition photoshoot has made me see the many differences that we have in our everyday lives. My strengths of this assignment were finding found and forced juxtaposition pictures. My weakness for this photoshoot were finding pictures to mash up. Overall this photoshoot was fun but figuring out what to mashup was harder than I thought.

ISO Photoshoot

outdoor (2)

This picture was taken on Halloween of my friend Maddie. Instead of trick-or-treating we decided to have a photo shoot on a golf course because it was surrounded by trees that were perfect for fall. This picture I took in the shutter priority with the ISO of 200. I used the composition rules of get close, don’t center and no distractions. Using those rules made the picture look better because you are able to focus just on Maddie and not on anything in the background since it is blurred out. A strength of mine for this photoshoot with Maddie and the whole project was finding things to take pictures of. I ended up going a lot of places that were good for pictures so I didn’t have to use any old photos. A weakness for me on this project was figuring out the ISO after the clouds came out but it was still light outside. Overall I did like this project because it taught me how to use more creative settings on my camera which helps me make my pictures more special to me because I am able to be more creative.

Shutter Speed Photoshoot

freeze motion 6 (1)

This picture is from the homecoming game at my high school. I am apart of the yearbook at the school so I have access to the ground level of the game instead of being up in the stands. So this is a picture that I took of some cheerleaders at the game. This picture does have a lot of people in it so following the rules of composition was a little harder to do. I made sure to get close enough to see clear faces of the cheer leaders but yet far enough to not be up in their faces. The excitement of the game was shown by many of the people on the field, so when choosing a subject matter, I chose to use the cheerleaders. A strength of mine for this project was getting the freeze motion pictures because those are one of my favorite types of pictures to take. A weakness for this project was taking panning pictures because that was a new type of style for me. Overall I really liked this project because it used things in motion rather than taking pictures of still objects.

Depth of Field Photoshoot

far edit.jpg

This is a picture that I took from a Niall Horan concert I went to at the end of August. My friends and I decided to go and being the photographer that I am, I decided to take some pictures of them. Using the composition rule of close and far, you are able to see the depth of the photo. It was kind of hard to not have distractions since there was a large crowd, but I think they added more character to the photo. Even though this picture is not very complex, it is a fun picture that I can look back on and remember the memories I made from that day. This project helped me have different perspective on the places that I go. Now when I take pictures I look at the whole scene instead of just close up. I have a tendency of only taking up close pictures and having the background blurry.  So my strengths were taking the up close pictures and my weakness was finding good places to take far away pictures.
